On Friday, we were all fortunate enough to experience a day of hugging on International Hug Day. What a wonderful way to share with others your love and affection. I went through my office and hugged everyone in it. Soon after I hugged Rob, he took off and hugged everyone in the office as well. Hugging at SHO became contagious. Just because the international hug day has passed does not mean we have to stop showing others gestures of love. Those gestures can be large or small.
It is true. A smile is a beautiful thing. Smiles can light up a person’s life. They find a way to appeal to the soul of others and demonstrate joy, happiness, delight, and more. They are reassuring and comforting to others. As Mother Teresa said, they are “an action of love.” It is amazing how such a very small gesture can communicate a large message of love.
Smiles, like hugs, are contagious too. Try smiling to ten people you interact with today and see how many of them smile back. Smile at your waiter when they greet you. Smile at your client when they come through the door. Smile at your family when you see them next. Smile at each and every person you interact with and see what comes of it. Love is the only thing you will give away that will return.
