Cultural Shift

If there is one thing I have noticed in our culture lately it is the shift we are making towards love. With TV shows like Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Oprah’s Big Give people are starting to think more about giving back. The ethos of American society is starting to shift and we are starting to see more intentional actions of love popping up all throughout our culture.

One prime example of this cultural shift is the Subaru commercial I came across this week. As an incentive to draw more business to themselves, Subaru has created a sales concept that allows people to make a donation to the charity of their choice by buying or leasing a Subaru vehicle. As I recall, SunTrust did this first. The point is… LOVE is showing up more and more in today’s society. It is now showing up as sales pitches and company slogans. A commercial like this one would not exist if a shift in culture were not already in motion. Subaru is marketing to a culture that is eager to give back.

Love is gaining traction in the hearts and minds of people all across the nation. This is just one small example.
